Smooth Words and Fawning Looks (2011) – for 4-hands piano (3′)
——————————————-
-A short prelude for 4-hands piano using various pitch collections taken from koto tunings. The title comes from the Confucius saying, “Smooth words and fawning looks are seldom found with love.” The work uses the title as an inspiration for form, splitting the piece into two halves: “Smooth words and fawning looks,” and, “are seldom found with love.”
-Also arranged for Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.
