A panel of four judges reviewed a strong and numerous pool of anonymously submitted scores to settle upon the winners of three separate awards: one national (U.S.) composer, one international composer, and one young composer under the age of 30. Daniel was selected in the National Composer category, and will receive a US$1,000 commission for a 5-minute new work that The Esoterics (Eric Banks, cond.) will premiere at the POLYPHONOS Concert in October of 2017 in Seattle, Washington.
Presented as a winner in Magpies & Ravens’ LINEAGE program (Curtis Kettler, cond.)
“Perhaps the most interesting part of the program was “Two Reflections on The Belovèd,” the American, Daniel Sabzghabaei, did not hesitate to show his Persian origins.”
