The New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) will premiere my new work “At The Door” as part of the Bernstein Marathon at the CUNY Graduate Center, Saturday, December 2nd at 6pm during the NEXT portion of the marathon, featuring new music. Commissioned by NYFOS and Michael Barret, written for soprano Amy Owens, baritone Jesse Blumberg, and pianist and Bernstein scholar Leann Osterkamp.
My new POLYPHONOS commission The Blue Booby was premiered and given two subsequent performances in Seattle and Tacoma by The Esoterics (Eric Banks, cond.). I had the opportunity to have a four day residency in Seattle with the ensemble, coaching, speaking with audiences about my work, and meeting with all of the wonderful members of the ensemble.
As part of the program, I will be fulfilling two new 5 minute commissions for chorus: one free, the other specifically intended for high school voices. I will also be receiving mentorship from composer Timothy Takach during the composition and rehearsal process. Performances are slated for November 2017 at the Minnesota ACDA Conference, and March at McNally Smith College.
Presbyopia was performed by Sound Out Loud at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as part of the Midwest Graduate Music Consortium 2017 on Friday March 31.
