Two Persian Folksongs (2013)

Two Persian Folksongs (2013) – 2 part choir w/ solo violin and piano (7′)
I. Mosjdeh beh bolbol dehīd (5′)
II. Beh yek negāh-e-marhamat (2′)
——————————————-
-These two tunes were some of my father’s favorites. As a child, I remember him singing along with old tapes, loudly and boisterously. Perhaps as an homage to this time in my life, singing in youth ensembles, I worked with these two tunes in the context of the boy’s choir, the violin giving a dialogue to the each song, and a different timbre which is tied to my memory of these two tunes.
